We have plague in the US. It’s treatable. What you REALLY need to worry about is Marburg virus disease (MVD), There is no cure or treatment and it’s in Uganda NOW.

    Hello
What we’ve seen in the US is Bubonic plague, it’s seemingly always hanging around in the wings so to speak. It’s transmitted via body fluids or handling infected rodents or their waste. The virus making it’s way around the globe is Pneumonic plague. It’s transmitted much more readily, either droplets in the air (cough or sneeze) or contact with a surface that has had the virus on it semi-recently. I think it’s safe to say that a commercial aircraft, with its air re-circulation system, would be a very efficient transmitting environment if an infected person were or was on board. Pneumonic plague also has a much shorter incubation period, is much more difficult to cure with antibiotics, and kills much more quickly and efficiently than the Bubonic variety.
If you want to learn more about this virus, and enjoy a gripping, albeit chilling book series, read the “Pandemic” trilogy by Bobby Akart, who’s an excellent author and extremely well-researched. The parallels between that book series and the events unfolding are almost unbelievable.
Bottom line, this outbreak taking place from Madagascar (ground zero) is scaring the hell out’a me.
